About Me

About Me

Me! Hi, I'm Hannah

I've lived a few lives, but travel has been the thread that connects them all together.

Right now, I'm living and working remotely from my cosy little caravan with my fiancée, Chris, as we explore Tasmania. Our current mission? Completing Tasmania's 60 Great Short Walks—a challenge that's leading us through every nook and cranny of this stunning state!

I'm originally from Victoria's beautiful Mornington Peninsula, but for the past seven years, I've been based in the Northern Territory, balancing work and travel.

What do I do?

Straight out of high school, I studied a Bachelor of Animal Bioscience, fuelled by my love of science and my obsession with photographing and filming wildlife. Later, I earned a Master's degree in Communications and Digital Marketing—a combination that has set me up to do what I love most: spend time in nature, write about it, and share these valuable and important places with the world.

I'm a professional photographer and videographer, and my work has taken me across wildly different fields—from wildlife and conservation documentation to tourism, hospitality, and experiences, and even weddings, events, and concerts. Most recently, I had the joy of filming and photographing concerts for Darwin Symphony Orchestra and working with musicians during my time in Darwin.

Alongside content creation, I freelance in digital marketing and graphic design, collaborating with organisations across multiple industries—all while traveling! While some of my work involves marketing, most of it revolves around graphic design. I love working with organisations, so if you need any of these skills, click here to work with me!

And when I'm not working...

I have a deep love for water-based activities, especially swimming, diving, and, more recently, sailing. My biggest dream? To sail and dive from my own yacht!

On land, I'm learning to love hiking (a requirement here in Tasmania), and my hiking resume is growing by the day!

I have an interest in any type of adventure based activity or challenge, and would love to have a go at bike-packing and raft-packing sometime soon!

However, I am no out of place in a beautiful, calm location, taking photos, exploring a river or beach, or resting and reading a book!

So, why travel?

For me, it's less about travelling and more about living a full life—having the time to do the things I love.

My motivation for travel comes from a question I asked my dad when I was very, very young. That question sparked my obsession with a life of experiences, learning, and seeing as much of the world as I possibly can.

That question?

Why do people have holiday homes? Why wouldn't you just live in the place you like to holiday?

Now, as an adult, I understand the answer—but that answer still isn't enough to keep me in one place. Once I truly grasped just how many beautiful places there are to experience and get to know, I knew I couldn't settle for just one.

Really getting to know every place I go

Travelling slowly is a non-negotiable for me. Less than two weeks in one place? I don't know her…

This is important to me, both as a traveller and as a human, for two reasons:

1. To truly know a place, you need to retrace your steps.

You need to see the same thing a few times, visit a favourite food market, warung, or pub more than once—take a moment to live in a place. That's the only way I ever feel like I've really experienced it.

2. Travel is hectic, and to truly appreciate a place, you need time to process it.

One of the biggest joys of this lifestyle is coming back to home—whether that's a hotel room, caravan, tent, yacht (or whatever home happens to be that night)—with my photos, videos, and notes, and creating something that translates my thoughts and feelings into something meaningful.
