About Me

About Me

Hello, I'm Hannah!

Hey there, I'm Hannah

I am a writer and photographer from Australia.

I started Han Travels Slow from deep-seated loved of documenting my travels in a way that would allow me to recall and recap all the excellent adventures I experience in a way that creates richer and more meaningful memories for me.

Today, that passion has turned into a full-time travel lifestyle that allows me to really get to know every place I go, and share destinations and experiences in a way that inspires people to be more curious when they travel.

What is it

At its heart, slow travel is about doing a little bit less, to gain a whole lot more. You could liken slow travel to mindful travelling. To create rich epxeriences and stronger memories you need to be more aware of where you are and what you are doing; to be present exactly where you are.

What it is not

Slow travel doesn’t mean six-month trips backpacking Europe or South America, nor doesn’t mean 12 months living the #vanlife on the East Coast of Australia. Slow travel does not mean ‘full-time travel’—in fact, travelling slowly has nothing to do with length of time at all.

Let's work together

I am actively seeking opportunities to research, explore, and produce high-impact, visually beautiful, and deeply connective content that will inspire audiences to experience a place differently.

My experience in content creation and marketing spans 10 years, with 7 years as a professional photographer and videographer, and 5 years as a graphic designer, and marketing manager in the Australian arts and tourism industries. I hold a Masters in Marketing and Communications from Monash University, a Bachelor of Biology, and a Certificate in Outdoor Education. I have the skills and attention to detail that can support your business with attracting curious travellers who are looking for richer experiences.

My Story

One of the first questions I remember asking my parents when they took me on my first lap of Australia at 9 years old was - If people have holiday houses, why don’t they just live in them and be on holidays all the time?

This question fairly accurately sums up how I have approached my life since I have been old enough to make my own decisions.

As distracted and indecisive teenager, I chose not to go to school often but passionately chased education. I liked doing things in a slightly more challenging way - like getting a Certificate in Design and Technology and a Certificate in Outdoor Education before I even started Year 12.

I didn’t like to go to school, but I did like to skip school and study on the train while travelling to do more interesting things.

Once life started I promptly went travelling, before coming home and getting a Bachelor in Biological Science, followed more travelling, before getting a my Masters in Marketing and Communications.

Since then I have travelled somewhat full-time, with the occasional longer stay in a location to pursue something exciting.

Today, I support myself as a travel writer, graphic designer, and photographer while travelling full-time. My travels have taken me from South Africa through Thailand, working in wildlife conservation photography, and veterinary sciences, to South East Asia multiple times, and most recently around Australia in my cosy caravan with my creatively talented and devoted fiance, Chris.

Notably, we have just finished 11 months in Tasmania where we have (almost) hiked all 60 of Tasmania’s 60 Great Short Walks - a fun challenge and a satisfying achievement.

I follow the mantra of Slow Travel as a way to foster more meaning from my travels. I am passionate about getting to know every place I go, and not just crossing off another line on my bucket list.

If you or someone you know is looking for a creative person to showcase a special place, experience, or adventure, let’s discuss richer, more impactful ideas for your business.

If you are just here to read, learn and explore, I’ll leave you to it!
